Visitors to Phu Quy Island can enjoy fresh, live seafood at various floating raft restaurants such as Dai Nam, Anh Sang, Hai Thien, Hai Phat, and Ba Sinh, all offering a chance to taste the island’s signature specialties!
Located about 70 to over 100 meters from shore, these seafood rafts are anchored off the coast of Phu Quy. A short 5–7-minute canoe ride (depending on the raft’s location) gives tourists a scenic view of swaying seaweed beds and schools of fish swimming gracefully through crystal-clear waters — a mesmerizing sight.
On weekends, these raft restaurants can get quite crowded. The atmosphere is lively and bustling across the bay. The larger rafts closer to shore tend to fill up quickly, and many visitors may need to move to rafts farther out. Most rafts primarily raise grouper (red and tiger varieties) for sale, while premium seafood such as red prawns, jumping snails, slipper lobsters, and “lady’s nipple” snails are stocked specifically for visiting diners.
Highly Recommended Live Seafood freshly caught, raised, and cooked right on the raft includes:
King crab (Huynh De), superhero crab, red crab
Cuttlefish, squid (leaf, tube varieties)
Lobster, star shrimp, abalone, sea urchin, sea cucumber
Moon snails, jumping snails, grouper, cobia, and more — all renowned Phu Quy delicacies.

Hai Thien Raft
Hai Thien is a family-run raft with six members handling everything: three canoe operators, one fish catcher, one chef, and one general manager — all locals turned aquaculture farmers. About four years ago, visiting mainlanders showed interest in eating seafood right on the water, which sparked the idea for this service.
Visitors can choose their seafood fresh from the nets and enjoy it on-site. The experience of eating freshly caught seafood out at sea leaves a lasting impression. Many even purchase fresh seafood to take home as gifts.

Ba Sinh Raft
Ba Sinh is one of the oldest seafood rafts in Phu Quy. Although it was not started by Mr. Sinh himself, it was passed down from his father, who left fishing due to health issues and began fish farming with friends. Over time, the business grew as more locals joined.
Mr. Sinh, born in 1981, is a seasoned raft operator with 25 years of experience. Often called the “tycoon of the raft village,” he currently manages 35 fish cages raising a wide range of seafood including baby lobsters and red/black groupers.
He also raises three signature crab species of Phu Quy:
Moon crab, red crab, and stone crab
(Royal crab is kept in inland ponds with sandy bottoms, which suits their natural habitat.)
His rafts also feature dozens of snail species, some of which are rarely seen, like “foot snail,” “hand snail,” “lady’s nipple,” “iron horn snail,” and “red snail.” The Queen snail is the rarest and largest, weighing up to 3kg and sold at 420,000 VND/kg. Some shells are so beautiful they’re used for decoration or sold separately at high prices.
