Ông Đụn Hill in Southern Phú Quý

Ông Đụn Hill is located in the southern part of Phú Quý island district, standing at an elevation of approximately 46 to 48 meters. According to local legend, there was once a couple known as Ông Đụn and Bà Dàng who came from afar to reclaim and cultivate the land. The couple had no children and no relatives visiting them. One day, thunder roared and the sea surged violently—Ông (the husband) went up the mountain, and Bà (the wife) went down to the sea.

Ông Đụn chose the mountain (the end of the island) as the place of his passing, while Bà Dàng turned toward the rocky promontory at the edge of the coast (the beginning of the island) and passed away there. Ever since, the island’s people have enjoyed prosperity and abundant harvests. In gratitude, they named the hill “Đụn” after the husband and the rocky point “Bà Dàng” after the wife.

From the top of Ông Đụn Hill, visitors can take in sweeping views of Triều Dương Bay’s beach, where soft white sand meets crystal-clear blue waters.
