Phú Quý Island boasts crystal-clear blue waters, pristine and unspoiled beaches, and long stretches of white sand, featuring many beautiful swimming spots such as Triều Dương Bay, Bãi Nhỏ, Doi Dừa Beach, Lạch Dù Beach, Rạch Sỏi Beach, and more. However, only a few of these beaches are popular with tourists for swimming, including:
Triều Dương Bay
To the south lies Ông Đụn Hill, which rises about 46–48 meters. At the foot of the hill is Triều Dương Bay, a swimming area with fine white sand and clear blue water—an attractive destination for visitors.
Located in Tam Thanh Commune, Triều Dương Bay is a familiar spot for both locals and tourists from near and far. With its wide, flat stretch of soft white sand, crystal-clear water, and rows of casuarina trees providing ample shade, it’s an ideal place for outdoor trips. From the town center, it’s about a 7-minute motorbike ride to reach the beach. This is considered a perfect spot for swimming and relaxing while enjoying the natural scenery of Phú Quý.
Triều Dương Bay is often one of the first destinations visitors check out when they arrive on Phú Quý Island. Though not very large, the beach is known for its clear waters and soft white sand. In the afternoons, it tends to get crowded with locals swimming and relaxing. Aside from swimming, don’t miss the chance to take photos at the island’s sovereignty flagpole located nearby.
Bãi Nhỏ (Small Beach)
From Triều Dương Bay, follow the coastal road for about 300 meters and you’ll reach the Phú Quý Flagpole, a marker of Vietnam’s maritime sovereignty. Continue along the coastal road for another 700 meters, and you’ll arrive at Bãi Nhỏ – Gành Hang. This spot is more difficult to access, with steep rocky terrain, making it suitable only for adults and not recommended for children.
Though small, the beach is open and quiet, with clear blue water and few anchored boats. It has become one of the must-visit beautiful beaches on Phú Quý Island.
The best time to visit Bãi Nhỏ – Gành Hang is during the summer, from May to August, when the weather is ideal and the sea is calm with gentle waves—perfect conditions for exploration and enjoyment.
About 650 meters from Bãi Nhỏ lies Gành Hang, a tall cliff standing right by the sea. Here, the ocean flows into rock crevices forming natural pools like the “Khe Sung Sướng” and a stunning “infinity pool.” These unique formations attract many tourists for swimming and photography. However, be sure to wear climbing shoes for safety, avoid going near the edge of the infinity pool due to strong waves, and ideally go with locals who can guide you to safe spots for exploring.
Doi Dừa Beach
This beach gets its name from the many coconut trees growing there and the land extending (“doi”) out into the sea. Doi Dừa Beach is among the beautiful swimming spots on Phú Quý. The water is calm and clear, and the sand is soft and white—perfect for swimming and sightseeing.
Hòn Tranh Beach
With crystal-clear waters, long stretches of fine white sand, and lush vegetation, Hòn Tranh appears in the middle of the vast ocean like a peaceful oasis. The pristine island, with its fresh and tranquil atmosphere, offers a perfect escape from the stresses of city life.
To reach Hòn Tranh, you’ll need to take a canoe from Bãi Phủ, a trip that takes about 10 minutes. Once there, visitors can immerse themselves in the clear waters where the seabed is visible, breathe in the fresh air, and enjoy relaxing activities like fishing for a beach barbecue. You can also go snorkeling to admire the coral reefs and view the vast ocean with your own eyes—experiencing nature’s beauty firsthand, without needing anyone to describe it for you.
