Vietnam’s Largest Catamaran High-Speed Ferry Will Transport Passengers to Phú Quý Island

On May 19, 2023, Phú Quốc Express is scheduled to operate its first high-speed ferry service on the Phan Thiết – Phú Quý route. The company will deploy one of the three largest twin-hull high-speed ferries in Vietnam, with a passenger capacity of up to 598.

The ferry is built according to QCVN 54/2013/BGTVT, the national technical regulation on classification and construction of high-speed boats, Limited Class I. It is equipped with a state-of-the-art marine gas system and modern technology meeting European standards. Combined with international positioning and meteorological-hydrological forecasting systems, it ensures safety. The ferry can operate in harsh weather with waves reaching levels 7-8 while significantly reducing seasickness. “During operation, the ferry offers high stability and spacious passenger cabins, creating comfort and helping both crew and passengers avoid fatigue and minimize seasickness syndrome, promising the safest and smoothest journeys.”

The ferry is equipped with two large lifeboats, life jacket systems, and personal flotation devices along the hull for passengers. The advantages of twin-hull vessels include safety, balance, and high stability, which reduce seasickness. However, for passengers unaccustomed to rough seas, we still recommend limiting movement on the ferry and taking anti-seasickness medication to ensure a pleasant and safe voyage.
