Bãi Phủ, located in the northern area, is the largest fishing port on Phú Quý Island during the southern wind season. Every new day on the island begins bustling with seafood trading activities at the harbor. From early dawn, boats and small vessels start transporting seafood in and out continuously.
Bãi Phủ is a shallow area where large ships cannot dock directly; most have to hire small boats as intermediaries to transport fishermen and their catch.
Every morning, seafood traders gather at the harbor to buy and sell. They come from the three communes of Tam Thanh, Long Hải, and Ngũ Phụng to select fresh fish to resell at local markets or to restaurants serving tourists on the island. The boats transporting seafood in and out of Bãi Phủ operate continuously until about 8 a.m., when the early morning fish market activity ends.
The waters around Phú Quý Island are rich in seafood. Fish caught around the island are brought to the harbor the same day, ensuring freshness. According to local fishermen, they start fishing around 3 p.m., fishing all night using lights until early morning around 4 to 6 a.m., when they return to Bãi Phủ to sell their catch. After selling, they eat, rest, and then head out again in the afternoon.
Currently, Bãi Phủ is also a gathering point for many tourist speedboats that take visitors to Hòn Tranh and other islets. Tourists can rent a speedboat at Bãi Phủ to Hòn Tranh for about 200,000 to 250,000 VND per person for a round trip.
