Triều Dương Village Communal House

Triều Dương Village Communal House is located in Triều Dương Hamlet, Tam Thanh Commune, Phú Quý District, Bình Thuận Province. It is a provincially recognized historical and cultural heritage site of Bình Thuận.

The communal house is a place of worship dedicated to the Thành Hoàng Bổn Cảnh (the village’s tutelary deity) and the ancestral pioneers who contributed to the foundation and settlement of the village. According to preserved records, Triều Dương Village Communal House was originally built in 1773. It represents a form of folk architecture closely tied to the agricultural and fishing livelihoods of the local people. As with many Vietnamese villages, the naming of the communal house after the village reflects the customs and traditions of Vietnamese settlers during the southward expansion and land development period.

The communal house currently preserves five imperial decrees (sắc phong) issued during the reigns of Emperors Tự Đức, Đồng Khánh, and Khải Định, bestowing honor upon the village’s tutelary deity.

Each year, two major ceremonial offerings are held at the communal house:

  • The Spring Offering (Tế Xuân), which takes place in the first or second lunar month.
  • The Autumn Offering (Tế Thu), held in the seventh or eighth lunar month.

Having existed for over 241 years, Triều Dương Village Communal House has retained its original name and form, serving as a lasting symbol of the village’s cultural identity. For its preserved cultural values, the Bình Thuận Provincial People’s Committee recognized it as a Provincial-Level Historical and Cultural Relic under Decision No. 2959/QĐ-UBND dated November 16, 2007.
